A warm welcome to our exciting Dance and Creative Arts Company. I started dancing at the age of three and a half with Miss Shirlee Gaston and I'm still dancing, teaching, learning, with as much love, passion and motivation as when I first stepped into the dance studio. I'm proud to say apart from some breaks, it has all been at the same school. From there I quickly added singing and music to my regime.
LCM grade 6 Piano, LCM grade 6 Singing, LCM grade 6 Musical Theatre which allowed me to perform at many eisteddfod's and competitions with great success.
My dancing created the opportunity for me to be a Royal Ballet student and I proudly performed at the Royal Opera House, work shops with the great Wayne Sleep. I toured with the English Youth Ballet in their production of the Nut Cracker. I auditioned & was successfully invited to dance in the Greatest Tap Show On Earth with Derek Hartley at the Bloomsbury Theater London. In between this I also became a GMTV model which then led to some television work in Doctors and two series with Craig Cash from the Royal Family starring Caroline Aherne, filmed at the Granada Studios in Manchester. Manchester must be lucky for me as I also filmed with Jude Law there, a great experience.
Ten years of Professional Pantomime and two children later have brought us to here. What a great journey and I feel the best is yet to come. RAD Ballet Advanced, ISTD Advanced 2 Tap, Modern, ISTD teaching in Tap, Modern and Musical Theatre, BTEC Performing Arts and National Diploma. We have a great team in a great environment and would love you to journey with us, see you soon.

I started dancing at the age of two and a half under the guidance of Miss Shirlee Gaston. I started gradually with ballet before progressing onto Tap and Modern. It wasn't long before I realised that this would be my career in some way or another.
I began doing competitive festivals at the age of four and it wasn't long before I had solos in all seven disciplines - Ballet, Tap, Modern, Lyrical, Song and Dance, National and Character. At the age of seven, I had gained qualifying marks for the All England Dance Finals, which are held bi-annually in London. It was here I gained a British Champion title which I maintained every other year until the age of sixteen.
At sixteen, I gained a place at the Doreen Bird College, Sidcup, to study a National Diploma in Musical Theatre, where I was trained by some of the most prestigious teachers from across the globe.
Upon returning to Telford, I went onto study for a Higher National Diploma in Musical Theatre, through Staffordshire University, where I gained Distinction across the board. I then went to further my educational path by completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education specialising in Dance and Performing Arts.
After having two children, I decided to change my career path slightly and I now teach dance full time in a nursery and pre school setting.

I'm super excited to be working at the Laura Deighton Dance Company.

Jamie Leigh Barton

I started dancing at the age of four in Shropshire, learning RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) ballet and ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance) Moden and Tap passing all grades and vocational grades to a high level. I have been lucky enough to be offered many fantastic opportunities in my late teens to early twenties, modeling for i.e. L'Oreal, GMTV and working along side proffesionals in the UK TV Dramas. I then travelled Europe performing in and choreographing professional shows.
Following this I taught at Gaston Payne school of Dance and Drama, teaching all ballet grades including vocational, limbering, festival classes, junior and senior jazz, also choreographing solo/groups, for annual shows, festivals and TV appearances. I was then accepted by the Royal Academy of Dance London where I studied and passed the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) qualifying as a RAD Ballet Teacher, being able to teach and enter students in the RAD examinations.
Soon after I qualified I took a position at The Ballet Centre in Dubai UAE where I was soon promoted to Head of Ballet. After six years of teaching in the UAE I have now moved back to the UK where I am delighted to join Laura Deighton Dance Company and hope to be a great asset to the team and to share my love and passion of ballet with all of my students. I love my job and thrive off sharing my knowledge and watching students grow and turn into beautiful ballerinas, dancers and performers and going on to fulfil their dreams.

I started to dance at the young age of nine. I would come home from school and put the urban music channels on straight away and start freestyling. I loved hearing the music and the way it made me feel so I went into official urban dance training at the age of eleven. Since then I have over ten years-experience in the urban dance industry.
I have featured on Britain’s Got Talent and Sky 1’s Got to Dance. My experience growing up through urban dance has allowed me to become a reputable choreographer across the UK.

I have recently established Blackout Dance Camp which is an urban dance training zone – this looks to provide high quality specialist urban training to the dancers within our community. This is all based at Laura Deighton Dance Company which I am thrilled to be in connection with. I am pleased to represent the vibrant new studios as a teacher and look forward to the collaboration work that is going to take place in the future.
I am mostly excited to help to enhance the dancer’s skills with my style and push them constructively into versatile dancers & performers.
